Our Team

There are many people involved in the life of our church family but here are some of the people you might meet if you join us on a Sunday.

Dave Cropped   Niel Cropped
Dave Lee (Senior Pastor)   Niel Du Preez (Elder)
Dave joined the Boathouse as the church's senior pastor in January 2021.  He's married to Catrin and they have three school-aged daughters.  As a family they love being close to the river and exploring Richmond Park.  Dave's background is in physics so he's always up for chatting about the relationship between science and the Christian faith, but he gets most excited talking about the person at the centre of it all, Jesus.
George Crop   Reuben WebsiteCrop
George Johnston (Elder)   Reuben Fromow (Youth and Children's Worker)
Reuben joined the Boathouse Church in 2021 as part of the merger with Roehampton Student Church. And then he left for two whole years! In that time, he went to the Isle of Jersey to train in Christian ministry and now he’s back with us as our Youth and Children’s Worker. Outside church, you'll find him playing Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering, or watching movies and musicals with his lovely wife, Chloe. They also love to feed people, so if you need space to eat and chat, their door is always open.
DaveWilson Cropped   Toni Cropped
Dave Wilson (Ministry Trainee)   Toni Edmonds Smith (Children's Ministry)
Dave joined the Boathouse in May 2021 as part of the merger with Roehampton Student Church. He started as a Ministry Trainee in September 2024 and is involved with all aspects of church life; he enjoys looking to make church accessible and welcoming for all, as well as being passionate about men’s ministry. Outside of church he is likely to be spending time outdoors with his wife Erina and playing lots of sport, football mainly!
Dave loves chatting with others about Jesus and reading through the Bible, and walking alongside others in fellowship – do reach out to him for a chat!
Toni was part of the original team who planted the Boathouse, moving to Putney to join the church.  She is heavily involved in our children's ministry, having overseen it for 10 years.  She's worked with children between the ages of 2 and 19 as a special needs teacher and is currently the headteacher of a local special school.  She enjoys cooking, hosting friends for meals and watching a good box set.
Hannah Crop1   Elaine Crop1
Hannah Irwin (Music Co-Ordinator)   Elaine Ng (Music Co-Ordinator)
Hannah joined the Boathouse in 2021 as part of the merger with Roehampton Student Church. She was a ministry trainee for two years there, but has since gone back to secular work.  Hannah's married to Ian and has two cats, likes movie nights with friends, beach days and the occasional d&d game.   Elaine joined the Boathouse in 2021 as part of the merger with Roehampton Student Church. She works as a music therapist and mental health practitioner, and likes making music ministry accessible to anyone with any level of ability. She will probably never get tired of sushi, board games and dachshunds!

Planning your Visit

Planning a Visit?

If you're thinking about joining us one Sunday the following information should help you know what to expect.

Where and When

OasisAcademy

We meet at the Oasis Academy Putney (click here for how to find us) on a Sunday - our service starts at 10:30am but if you arrive 10-15 minutes before then you'll have time to find your bearings and be welcomed by a few of our church family (starting with someone from our Welcome Team who will greet you on the door).

Accessibility: The venue is wheelchair accessible and there are disabled toilets along the main corridor.

What does a typical Sunday look like?

Our service begins at 10:30am with a official welcome from one of the team. This is followed by a time of sung worship, led by our band, which often includes a kids song with actions to help all of us - from the youngest to the oldest! - engage with what we're singing about.  After the opening songs, the children head out for their own activities (more information about that here) while the rest of us take the chance to greet those sitting around us.  We'll then share some news about what's coming up in the life of the church before a member of the church family leads us in prayer.  We'll then hear the Bible read and preached, with the sermon connecting the timeless truths of the Bible with our modern lives, before finishing with a final song.  After the service (which typically lasts an hour to an hour and a quarter), we encourage people to stay for tea or coffee, share lives and continue to speak about God's word.
